Sunshine High School had organised a Pre-Teachers’ Day Eye Checkup Camp on 4th September 2022 in association with Dr. Amitabha Chakraborty, attached with Lions Netralaya, Siliguri. The Programme started with the ushering of the doctor and his team by Mrs. Sradha Pradhan, Principal of the School. After a few minutes of the installation of the machines and equipments, the checkup started at 10:30 am. Around 140 patients of various age groups and some students were examined. According to the doctors, about 40 percent of patients had difficulty in near vision and some patients had difficulty in both distant and near vision. Out of which 3 patients had cataract which they had referred for surgery and 1 patient was diagnosed with glaucoma which was referred for further examination. Patients with power problems and reflex errors, both near and far, were provided with glasses and medicine from the camp.
The patients and doctors also appreciated the good arrangement of the school with a peaceful location for the camp. Few teachers, staff and students also volunteered in this program. Parents and local patients also had the opportunity to benefit from this program. All the patients seemed satisfied and happy with the detailed checkup done by the doctors.
Finally, the programme concluded at 05:00 PM with a thanksgiving ceremony by offering Khadas and honorariums to Dr Amitabha Chakraborty and his team by Mrs Sradha Pradhan, Principal of the School. She also gave the vote of thanks to Sir Binod Kumar Chettri for taking wise initiative and to Sir Stephen Sarkar for the good arrangement of the programme.
